With mullite main crystalline phase of high alumina refractory, the general alumina content is between 50% and 75%. The refractory temperature of mullite light brick can reach more than 1790ºC. Load softening starting temperature 1600-1700ºC. Normal temperature pressure resistance 70-260MPa. Good thermal shock resistance. There are sintered mullite bricks and fused mullite bricks.
Sintered mullite brick is made from high bauxite clinker as the main raw material, adding a small amount of clay or raw bauxite as the binder, by forming and firing. Fused mullite brick is made of high bauxite, industrial alumina and fireclay, adding charcoal or coke fine particles as reducing agent. The crystallization of fused mullite is larger than that of sintered mullite, and the thermal shock resistance is better than that of sintered products. Their high temperature performance mainly depends on the content of alumina and the uniformity of the distribution of mullite phase with glass.
High alumina refractory with mullite (3Al2O3·2SiO2) as the main crystalline phase. Generally, the alumina content is between 65% and 75%. In addition to mullite, the lower alumina content also contains a small amount of glass phase and cristobalite; Higher alumina content also contains a small amount of corundum. Lightweight mullite brick can be directly used in high-temperature kiln lining, and has been widely used in shuttle kiln, roller kiln, glass and petrochemical kiln lining.
